Heavenly Hydrangeas

Hydrangeas are among the showiest of garden shrubs. They offer clouds of heavenly blooms right up until frost. There are many types available and hybridizers are developing new ones every year. One of the best series to come along is the Endless Summer Collection. These Hydrangeas will bloom on old wood and new wood, so they just keep blooming all summer!

The Original 'Endless Summer' Hydrangea
Another recently introduced rebloomer is 'Pistachio' Hydrangea. It has multicolored flowers of red and green (like the nuts). It is a compact plant (to 3 feet tall) and is ideal for borders.
'Pistachio' Hydrangea

Climbing Hydrangeas (Hydrangea a. petiolaris) are available now, even 'Miranda,' with variegated foliage. This vining plant will adhere to any surface. It is slow growing, but will cover a wall beautifully. It blooms in summer with clusters of white flowers.

'Miranda' Hydrangea

Hydrangea a. 'Invincibelle Spirit' is a compact form of 'Annabelle'. It grows 3 to 4 feet tall and produces loads of hot pink blossoms. $1 from each 'Invincibelle Spirit' purchase goes to Breast Cancer Research Center.

'Invincibelle Spirit' Hydrangea

Hydrangea p. 'Limelight' is a show-stopper with pale green flowers that age to rosy pink. They are prolific bloomers, and when one is covered with flowers, all the shades between green and pink are present. Its flowers are on long spikes. It's really something else!

These are just some of the heavenly hydrangeas in stock. Come see all the choices available now and add a bit of heavenly color to your garden.

"Black" Tomatoes for Flavor
(and Anti-Oxidants)

"Black" tomatoes have distinctively different flavors than other tomatoes. Some describe it as "smoky," others just say it is more complex. Those deep colors mean lots of anti-oxidants (anthocyanins), so they are super good for you. If you've never tried one, this might be the year to be adventurous. Another reason to grow "black" varieties is that they mix well with more conventional tomatoes in sauces, salsas and salads. Here are a few of our more popular "black" varieties.

'Indigo Rose' may very well be the darkest tomato available. It has a unique fruity flavor and is wonderful in salsa. It's pretty new and in great demand.

'Indigo Rose'

'Japanese Black Trifele' is a medium-sized (3" to 4") pear-shaped tomato. Its flavor is described as deep, chocolate, smoky and rich. It has developed many fans since we started offering it.

'Japanese Black Trifele'

'Paul Robeson' is a luscious, juicy tomato with a sweet, almost citrus-like flavor. Its flesh is velvety smooth, and it is a prolific producer. It is a staff favorite here.

'Paul Robeson'

Yamagami's offers many other "black" tomatoes in the more than one hundred varieties in our collection. Try something different this year and every year. Discover new favorites!
