What's New In Veggies!

Ruben, our veggie buyer, is always on the hunt for exciting veggie choices. Here are a few of his current best picks:

Longevity Spinach (Gynura procumbens) is an amazing vegetable used for treating diabetes. In addition to lowering blood sugar, it has been found to help lower cholesterols and triglycerides. It is best eaten raw but can be cooked like spinach.

Hiro Haba Chives are a Japanese variety of Chinese Leeks. Their thick, flat, meaty leaves have a delicious garlicky flavor. They are heat-tolerant, cold-tolerant, and enjoy conditions from full sun to half sun. The pale yellow leeks are tasty too.

Summer Lettuce varieties:
Ruben found some varieties that can be planted in summer heat and still stay sweet without "bolting". Santa Fe, Summer Baby Bibb, and Michelle are all heat-tolerant.

Back On The Streets Again....

Yamagami's has been busy restocking popular out-of stock items in various departments. Here are a few examples:

Water Garden Plants: We have just brought in floaters, water lilies, and bog plants. Create or refresh your own oasis!

Half Oak Barrels are back! They make great rustic planters for everything from masses of color, to veggies, to patio trees.

Our Fruit Tree selection has been replenished with some avocados, and other sub-tropicals. Consider adding an Emerald Drops Pluot (plum/apricot cross) to your backyard orchard. It has earned very high scores in taste tests because it is juicy and yummy at all stages of ripening. It is sweet and tart while firm, then sweeter than honey as it softens.
