Paper-Potted Fruit Trees
And Roses!

Instead of carrying bareroot roses and fruit trees, we offer them in biodegradable paper pots. The pots keep the roots moist and protected from damage or drying out. You can plant them as soon as you get them, or keep them in their pots until you and your garden are ready for planting. Often, we sell out of the newer or the less common varieties, so order the ones you know you want.

Fruit trees in biodegradable paper pots will start arriving in January. Click here to see the complete listing. Follow our Planting Guide for guaranteed success!

Roses in paper pots start arriving mid-December, just before Christmas. Click here to see what can be ordered. Follow our Planting Guide to get them started right!

Ruben's Picks
For Your Veggie Garden!

There are still many veggie choices available to plant. Ruben has chosen a few taste treats to feature this week.

Perpetual Spinach is an heirloom Swiss Chard variety. It is delicious, very similar in taste to spinach. It produces new foliage over and over, yielding harvests from late spring through fall, if planted early. Perpetual Spinach is much slower to bolt during hot weather than true spinach.

Charlie F1 is a hybrid Swiss Chard with beautiful dark magenta stalks with white stripes on the midribs. Tender, shiny deep green leaves qualify this beauty to be considered an edible ornamental.

Italian Purple Globe Artichoke is an heirloom, thornless variety. It is as ornamental as it is delicious. The chokes are more tender and succulent than typical green varieties. The plants are tolerant of both heat and cooler temperatures.

Queenly Camellias

Camellias are fresh off the trucks! We've received some real beauties; some of them are even blooming! Camellias are positively regal with their perfect waxy flowers and glossy dark green foliage. Yet, they are remarkably sturdy. Once established, they are even somewhat drought-hardy. It is important to get them off to a good start, so follow our Planting Guide carefully. Here is a sampling of what is newly in stock:

Buttermint has very pale yellow blossoms, quite unusual. It's just enough color to give it the appearance of an antique glow instead of stark green and white contrast. The glossy, semi-double flowers are plentiful and showy against its deep green foliage. It even has a slight fragrance.

Holly Bright couldn't be better named. It offers large, bright salmon red flowers and blooms through the holiday season. What really is eye-catching is its heavily serrated foliage, something like holly leaves.

Marjorie Miller is a Sasanqua Camellia developed in Australia for her low, spreading habit (1 foot tall x 3 to 4 feet wide). She produces plentiful soft pink blooms fall into winter. Plant her in hanging baskets or as a groundcover. Like most sasanquas, she has great sun and shade tolerance. She can be trained into dramatic shapes.
