Everything's Coming Up Roses!

2018 should be a great year for roses. They are just starting to arrive and selection is excellent! There are several intriguing new roses to try.

Rosie The Riveter is a floribunda with prolific orangey gold blossoms. She grows to about 3 feet tall and wide. She has a spicy fragrance - pleasant, without being cloying.

Easy On The Eyes is a landscape rose, easy to grow and easy to maintain. It is a prolific bloomer that has semi-double pink flowers with purple markings.

Parade Day is a grandiflora with large, fuchsia pink blossoms splashed with white. The lovely blossoms exude a powerful fragrance to lend your entire garden a festive air!

Follow our Roses in Paper Pots Planting Guide for guaranteed success! Come explore our selection of climbing, bush, and tree roses. There is something perfect for nearly every garden!

Dormant Sprays 101

Dormant sprays are preventative medicine applied in the winter to dormant fruit trees, roses, and other deciduous plants.

The sprays are a combination of Liqui-Cop (a fungicide) and Horticultural Oil. They kill over-wintering diseases and smother over-wintering insects.

Spray right after pruning in dormant season. Don’t prune or spray if rain is due within 24 hours. Before spraying, strip all leaves and rake them off the ground.

Spray the Monterey Liqui-Cop first. Apply spray thoroughly to cover all sides of branches. If there are no plants underneath, spray the soil surface too.

When first spray has dried, or after 24 hours, apply the Horticultural Oil.

Spray to coat all surfaces to the point of drip. The oil also seals in the copper fungicide, making it even more effective during winter storms.

Dormant spraying can spare you a lot of grief in spring and summer. It is the only way to stop Peach Leaf Curl. See our Fruit Tree Care Calendar for more tips.
